"Rummage, rifle and retrieve"
The second Challenge is designed to get you thinking about the different places you can locate evidence for your digital portfolio. While you are not expected to collect all of your evidence this week, hopefully you will be able to make a good start.
TASK
This task is perhaps the most time consuming one and will continue throughout the challenge - the collection of evidence to support your claims against the standards.
Depending on how organised you are, you may already have files and folders with copies of your PD certificates, workshop programs etc. If not, this is a good time to start. Choose whether you want to collect paper or digital versions of the documents. If you collect paper versions, file them based on the standard that they refer to. Convert them to a digital format if you have chosen to create a digital portfolio.
Step One
Collect as many documents as you can that relate to your role as a teacher / teacher librarian. Look at the Collecting Evidence page on the website for further guidance in this.
Step Two
As you collect the documents / evidence use the Ready Reckoner to quickly identify which standard they support and which year they represent. Use a post-it note or write on the back so later when you digitise them you will know which of the evidence folders you need to put it in. The dates will be significant in terms of the recency of the evidence.
Step Three
Organise your documents into the folders based on how you have categorised them. This is to make it easier when you are retrieving your evidence to put in your portfolio. We will be collecting evidence from different sources throughout the Challenge so don't feel you must do it all now. If you are 'on a roll', however, go for it!
Step Four
Note that for some Standards it will be easy to find evidence and for others not - start with the easy ones - we will get to the others in time.
Step Five
Set yourself a goal of 10 pieces of evidence a week (or something you can comfortably and realistically work with).
HINT: Go to Collecting Evidence to get ideas of the various types of evidence you can collect. You will get more ideas throughout the Challenge as we address each standard.
Happy rummaging, rifling and retrieving!
